Do I have a concussion or a head injury?!

Question: Do I have a concussion or a head injury?
2 months ago I got hit in the head by a hardwood sword. I had a serious panic attack afterwards. I don't really think anything's wrong with me because I didn't lose any memory and didn't lose conciousness. I didn't vomit, my vision wasn't blurry at all, and etc. but I've been getting strange symptoms like numbness in hands and muscle tension in head and neck. My eyes hurt I think because of the tension and sometimes it feels like wind is hitting my eyes. My mother however isn't concerned but I am and I'm scared. I've been feeling angry and aggressive since. I'm just feeling vulnerable so do I have a concussion?

Answers:

Dont worry. once i got flipped over by a swing and knocked my head on concrete floor. check ur head for any lumps or bumps. if there is any, this means that the injury isn't a concussion,it's only external n it will definitely recover, after about a week or so. if u have internal injury, then maybe u should visit a doctor. its normal for ur eyes to hurt and the muscle tension but i never gotten th numbness in hand. anyway just wait for about a few days or so. if u start vomitting or if tis becomes worse, just visit a doc. :) hope i helped. recover soon! :D

problems from diabetes? Avoid sugar. Get tested.

If you belong to an organization that has a nurse or if there is a nurse at your school, you should go to her and share your story with her. Or alternatively, if you are under 18 and have a pediatrician or family physician, you should just take the initiative to call his/her office and speak with the nurse. Tell her what happened, share your symptoms, tell her this is different and your instincts are telling you to be concerned, and ask her what you think would be the best course. She will almost certainly suggest you come in to have it evaluated.

If you are frightened and are having symptoms, you may have some consequences from the blow to the head. Alternatively, it's possible given the fact that you say you had a panic attack afterwards, you are having some kind of anxiety response to the accident. If you have panic attacks regularly and are maybe taking some kind of medication for them, it's possible the medication is causing these symptoms. But regardless of whether the symptoms you report are the result of the blow to your head or an anxiety response to the accident, you need to report this to your physician and get it in your medical record, and get it evaluated.

Almost 10 years ago, I fell on black ice on a sidewalk and slammed the back of my head against the sidewalk really hard. I got up and walked away, but a little over 2 days later, my retina detached and I had to have surgery. I share this to let you know that sometimes the consequences of a blow to the head are delayed. You are young and vulnerable, and you need to get someone on your side to validate your need to have this evaluated.

Feel better.
