I got tackled hard and now it's hard to breathe. WTF?!

Question: I got tackled hard and now it's hard to breathe. WTF?
I got hit pretty hard. I felt a little ill, and my ribs started to hurt. I didn't think much of it and kept playing. Now I've been sitting down for a while and I've been short of breath. The pain in my ribs is gone, but it is considerably difficult to breathe. I'm not really suffocating, but it is considerably tougher to breathe. What should I do? I really don't want to go to the hospital just to find out that it's nothing.

Answers:

Your diaphragm or ribs could be bruised, it might take about a week or two for it to fully heal.
If by then, you don't feel better, you might want to get it checked, because if a rib broke( which i doubt)
you could've punctured a lung. Just rough it out,Ii think you'll be fine, but don't play contact sports until you start feeling better.

Dude, if it's "considerably difficult to breathe" (using your own words) that's NOTHING to mess with! That is VERY bad for your body and could do more harm to you than you're obviously realizing. I've been in a hospital for 2 years now so I have some medical experience from watching different things going on. When they put the thing on your finger to check your pulse and oxygen level (called a pulse oximiter) and it shows less than 95% oxygen, they make the patient start wearing oxygen. When it falls below 90% they start to get concerned... Less than 80% and that's about the time they're making the "Code Blue" announcement on the intercom.

I'm having no trouble breathing right now and I average about 97%... If you're having considerable difficulty, you're probably more like 90% so I would get your butt to the hospital if I were you!

In the time I have been in the hospital, there's been at least 3 Registered Nurses who have told me forget college and just take the RN State exam... I have so much medical knowledge I could probably pass it without going to college. :P

Go to the hospital anyway, better safe than sorry.

Go to the E.R.
