Osgood-Schlatter's pain tends to go on its own anyway, rest helps and sometimes RICE (rest, ice, compression and elevation) are used. In extreme cases the knee is very occasionally placed in a plaster cylinders to enforce absolute rest which helps reduce pain. Surgery is only needed when the knee shows evidence of more significant damage.

GP for more years than I care to remember

I have the same condition, best thing i can say is use anti inflammatory drugs when its pain full and rest it. don't treat it if she is not symptomatic. you can use anti inflammatory gels they are pretty good. its basically something that she must live with, its a growth problem. I was diagnosed when 12 years old, the doc told me id never play football again, iv played semi pro football until the age of 26 and represented my country for javelin throwing and much much more. don't let her get downhearted.

Taping it can help. Put a strip of tape or wrap it around your knee right underneath the kneecap. Remember the RICE acronym as it is helpful. Make sure it gets strectched out regularly. If it doesnt get better, ask about maybe doing physical therapy.

Go to Wal-Mart or Dick's Sporting Goods and buy what is called a Patellar Tendon Strap. It is worn around the bottom of the knee directly below the knee cap. It will place pressure on the patellar tendon which will relieve pressure and ease the pain

im sorry about ur daughter ): i hope she gets feeling well!! idk what to do im just answering for points..sorry!! god bless
