If your under "Loopy Gas" Does an IV hurt?!

Question: If your under "Loopy Gas" Does an IV hurt?
Im suppose to get this thing that requires an IV to put me to sleep. Does the Iv hurt? and when the drugs go into it does it hurt your wrist?

I heard this thing that redheads need more gas than others, and i dont do needles well. I think it true, because one time i had this "Loopy Gas" and it didnt stop me from them putting the IV in. I wasnt even loopy!

Honestly? I've never had any numbing gel, creams put on me before having an iv put in my arm, wrist.I suppose you could ask,and the doctor will give it to you.I do know it's available..the numbing gels, creams I mean. Now,as for the iv itself without any kind of numbing medications? A lot depends on the size gage needle the doctor/nurse uses, but honestly...yeah,it is a little painful.I'm not gonna sit here and lie to you,and tell you that it's all comfy and pain free. But,as for the story about red heads having to have more gas than everyone else? That's is 100% false information. So,whatever bad experience you've had in the past? It might have been your doctor just didn't use enough 'loopy gas'..it happens.Your going to have to relax duing this procedure, and if you don't? The more pain and discomfort your going to feel.Trust me. The more you tense up when the nurse/doctor tries to put your iv in? The more it will hurt...because your muscles are so tensed up,and hard...it's just gonna hurt more..out it that way.Just go in,and take a deep relaxing breath..and ask your doctor/nurse for the numbing gel/cream.Ok? Good luck to you and I hope everything works out.Take care.

Oh,and when any medications go into your iv...your feel a cool sensation, and no pain....the only time a person feels any pain from their iv medication/s...if when their given a very stron dose of either antibiotics,or a really heavy dose of morphine...Your case? Not likely.Again....good luck.

Before they start an IV, the doctor will look for a good stable vein. Numbing solutions will be used on the skin and the IV will be started. The more hydrated you are and the more relaxed you are the easier the IV will go into your vein. Half of the pain is the apprehension of having the IV inserted into your vein.

I don't think so. But in any case the pain from the needle is only for a minute tops then you won't feel a thing for sure. No matter what hold as still as you can otherwise they might have to try again.

I have had so many IV's and ad blood drawn it isn't funny.

No it will not hurt, hence the point of the gas. It gets irritating looking at it if it isn't funny.

No but it might get itchy
