What is a laforte fracture?!
Question:
What is a laforte fracture?
Answers:
Also called Forte's fracture, it's a fracture of the facial bones. It's seen most often in car accidents and falls, when a person's face hits a blunt object.
This can be a very serious injury and requires medical attention. The mouth and nose area of a person's face can actually be "free floating".
As an EMT, I've only seen it once and it was in a car accident. A young girl had been in the back seat of a car when it was t-boned by another. She hit her face on the back of the front seat. Ouch.
