Has anyone been through the surgery to fuse the disk in their neck?!
Question:
Has anyone been through the surgery to fuse the disk in their neck?
I have three set of disks that have too much space between them, in my neck. I have been in pain for about 5 months trying to get a Dr to take care of this. I have one, but I'm still scared of the results. It would help if I could hear from someone who has been through this.

I have been through physical therapy, had two cortazone shots in the neck ( C3-C6 are my problem). This last one they tried doing it lower than the first and it didn't do as well. I have a nerve test and a apt with a neurologist (because of the dabilatating headaches) and traction for physical therapy

I had this procedure done almost 12 years ago. I have a posterior cervical fusion from C4-C7. The worst part of the surgery for me was the postoperative pain in my hip where they harvested bone for the fusion. I have very limited range of motion with my head and neck but I have adapted to this and have learned to compensate accordingly. As far as surgical results go I have been very pleased. The pain disappeared and I have had no complications from the surgery. If you have more questions please feel free to send me an email. Good luck and best wishes.
