Answers:
Alot depends on the intent. Does the cutter have suicidal ideation? Or is the cutter feeling anger, frustration and rage? This behaviour in that instance is a means to express/vent these potentially destructive feelings.
In any case, the behaviour is a definite maladaptive one and is a sure indication that the cutter is is need of psychological help ASAP.
There are usually help lines/ info lines at the front of telephone books. There are crisis lines as well. If the situation feels as though it is getting out of control, call or go to the nearest ER.
