I've always wondered. so many people cut and don't die. O_o
Answers:
Depend on which veins, and whether any attemp to control the bleeding has been taken. Similar sized veins and arteries carry the same volume of blood, the difference is blood in the veins are under a more constant pressure whereas arteriers pressure fluctuates with each heart beat.
Cutting the large veins in your legs, arms, or neck can lead to rapid hypovolemic shock.
