Help me diagnose my severe leg pain?!

Question: Help me diagnose my severe leg pain?
I'm 18, female and have had a severe recurring pain in my right leg for around two and a half years.
The pain comes and goes in no apparent pattern and can appear in just my upper thigh, but also my bottom and lower back.
It's so severe that when I have it I often can't be comfortable in anyway, whether standing, sitting, walking, running, laying down etc.
I have been to the doctors twice about this problem, but each time they told me only to take painkillers, but they only take the edge off the pain, instead of getting rid of it.
Has anyone had the same problem, or anyone know what it could be?
Thanks.

Look up Sciatica.
Also look at ur posture, are you leaning alot? carrying ur bag on one side?

That was a polite response!!
Anyway back to the question, have they mentioned Sciatica at all? With that you can experience pain in your thigh, down to your knee and through the buttocks, it's can vary from mild to severe pain, lots of things can trigger it.
Take a look at these sites see if it all matches up if it does go back and TELL your GP you think this is your problem. Good Luck xx

Yep its called sciatica. The pain can radiate down your leg to your knee and even your ankle too. The Sciatic nerve is the problem. I remember lying with my leg extended up the wall trying to get relief. (did not work )

Monitor when you get the pain.
It can be related to menstruation.(periods) or changing your shoes height. Even wearing a different belt can provoke it! Change in posture can help prevent it too.
Take the painkillers when you first get the pain, it stops you from compensating with the other leg and getting a pain in that one also.

Go consult your doctor, dont consult yahoo answers...

This is Sciatica.
You may have a pinched nerve and it gets better when it releases

I agree with the answer from Shazzaza insist on a scan
