What does it mean when a wound oozes?!
Question:
What does it mean when a wound oozes?
I'm working in an outdoor theatre this summer and took a nasty fall in the dark backstage the other night. When I say backstage, I actually mean THE WOODS. At any rate, it scraped up everything from my right ankle to my right knee, a combination of scrapes, abrasions, cuts, and even a 1/2 inch gash cover an area that's approximately 9 inches long and 2 and 3/4 inches wide. I cleaned it (because there was so much dirt embedded in it) and have been treating it with peroxide once a day and triple antibiotic ointment twice a day. I bandage it only during performances because I play a soldier and take a nasty fall and don't want to get anymore dirt in it. Whenever I take the bandages off, there is a nasty oozing, both on the wound and bandage. It's a yellowish brown in color. What does this mean?

Infection, see Physician.
