How is the right way to use a crutch or cane?!
Question:
How is the right way to use a crutch or cane?
I have gotten good comments for both sides.
The same side it makes certain you do not put your full weight on your disabled appendage, and then
The opposite side, so you can shift you weight away from your damaged appendage.
Who is correct?
Answers:
100% certain that it is on the opposite side to the injured leg. Anyone that tells you otherwise has NO clue and is just guessing. What you do is bring the crutch/cane forward at the same time as the injured leg, put whatever weight you can through the injured leg and the rest through the crutch/cane and take a normal step with the good leg.
The only exception would be if the arm opposite to the injured leg was unable to hold the crutch/cane.
