Any ideas as to what I did to my knee?!
Question: Any ideas as to what I did to my knee?

A jarring bump like that can cause a meniscus tear which often has the tell-tale signs of sensitivity under the knee cap to the right or the left, usually on the inside/front of the leg. Your other symptoms seem to indicate this is the case. You probably have some swelling with this injury which is why you can't bring your knee to you chest, and this swelling also maintains a low grade pain all the time as you've indicated. Walking or running of course will make the matter worse as you are irritating the bones that used to be protected by this torn cartilage.
You have several options. First, hold off on running for a bit. Running puts a lot of pressure on your knee joints. Walking is OK. When you do walk, don't overdo it and ice your knee for no more than 10 minutes several times each day. You may also wish to take Ibuprofen (advil) for the pain and reduce the swelling.
If it is severe, you may need arthroscopic surgery to remove the torn cartilage, but before you resort to that option, try AposTherapy. This therapy shifts your bones away from the torn cartilage which allows you to walk with pain. The therapy use a specially designed shoe (they look cool so you won't look geeky with them on). You wear them for about an hour each day and it retrains your muscles to hold your bones in the new position. Walla, lasting pain free knees.
If your not going to a doctor, then just elevate it and don't be putting any drastic measures to it either. Maybe get an icy-hot pad and just sit down in your spare time watching t.v with it on. But, you might just wanna go to the doctor, cause it could be serious.
Bruised cartilage, maybe a minor dislocation that went back in place.
I have bad knees.. But I fall all the time haha
You cant leave these matters to luck.. You should really see a doctor and get your leg x-ray'ed..
You might of bruised your bone. Ask a doctor and get some x-rays done.
