As a smoker... it's no secret that it's bad for you. My advice would be try to get out while you're still not in the habit of regularly smoking (everyday), if you can go it alone then hats off to you (some people find it easier than others) but there is medical help out there. Your lungs will repair themselves no matter how long you've been smoking, the longer you've smoked obviously the longer the damage will take to repair but as you've not smoked for a large amount of time the damage won't be severe. Smoking doesn't improve your quality of life and everyone eventually wants to quit because it only does harm. I've been smoking for a few years so I'm finding it really hard to quit, the longer you smoke the harder it gets. To summarize, get out while you're in the early stages!
eventually your lungs will recover if you give them a break for long enough. the human body will naturally heal itself. Because cancer is in your family the possibilities of the desease being passed down is greater. however if you quit smoking sooner than later, you'll have a far better chance of recovery. as for a good quitting method, you tell me :(

i dont think smoking for a year does much to your body.
