Question:

Should I start wearing Glasses for Astigmatism of 1+ in my left eye ? I do not feel any handicap.?

I use reading glasses though. Will the power increase if I do not use Glasses?

Answers:

Are you asking… if you do not wear your glasses will your vision get worse?
Wearing or not wearing your eyeglasses will not cause your vision to get worse!!!
If you are around 40 years old and up you are probably experiencing presbyopia!!!
This is when the crystalline lens in your eye that normally flexes to help us focus for near vision looses some of its flexibility. Astigmatism has nothing to do with this factor!
This starts to become noticeable around age 40 when the need for reading glasses begins. The crystalline lens continues to loose its flexibility until around age 60 when a person will experience complete loss of reading ability. If your reading prescription is only +1.00 then it is very likely it will get stronger as you age to around +2.50 to +2.75 when you are in your late 50’s.
The increase in a presbyopic persons reading prescription is not due to them not wearing their glasses. The increase in a reading prescription is due to a person’s age!!! It will eventually level off in your late 50's/early 60's.
If you have any concerns about your vision you should talk to your local eye doctor about it
