LASIK would be a great option for you, provided you are over 18 and your prescription has stabilized - meaning that you haven't had a change in at least 12 months. There are other tests that would need to be done to make sure that you're a good candidate, but those are the first two things that they look before doing any of the LASIK work-up testing. LASIK is one of the safest procedures out there, with minimal risks and side-effects and is painless and has instant results. I've seen many very satisfied patients with prescriptions like yours and worse.
If you are not 18, or if LASIK is not an option for you, contacts would be the next best thing, if you don't already wear them. They are very comfortable and offer the best vision.
And even if you do wear contacts, you should ALWAYS ALWAYS have a good pair of glasses to fall back on. You cannot rely solely on your contacts all the time so in the event you were to rip or lose one, or you were to contract an infection you need to be able to wear glasses. There are lens technologies that thin your lenses down considerably and with the right size and shape frame, they can really make your glasses look and feel much better. The Opticians at your Optometrists' office are there to do just that for you...just ask them for help! That's what we do!!!
