What does it mean if my eye constantly is twicthing?!
Question:
What does it mean if my eye constantly is twicthing?
It feels as if there is a irregular pulse in my eyelid. Its really annoying and uncomfortable. A friend of mine said he once had this happen to him and it was due to stress. What do you think?
Answers:
This is most likely "myokymia", which is a twitching eyelid. Blepharospasm, as alluded in an earlier post, tends to be a forceful blink rather than a twitching lid as I understand it. Myokymia can be caused by stress, too much caffeine, not enough rest, etc. There really isn't a "cure" but it should subside over time. Sometimes it takes several months to subside. In severe cases an injections of botulinum toxin may help, but I understand it's very painful. I currently have myokymia, and I know mine is stress related. The condition is generally not harmful, just annoying. If it persists or becomes more involved, definitely see your eye doctor.
