I wear contacts and am having problems with them?!

Question: I bought new contacts a few months ago and bought 6 months worth of them and have gone through them all in 2 months. They are always falling out and I loose them, any ideas why this is happening? I am not doing anything dumb like rubbing my eyes or anything, I take them out at night and put them in in the morning, clean them do everything I am supposed to do. Anyone ever had this problem, I can't afford to go through contacts that fast.

They should not be falling out and I would suggest you call your doctor and tell him/her. They should offer to see you again and probably at no charge( I would for my patients), and they are likely too flat or too loose. The fit, in other words may be wrong for you. I would not purchase any more till you see the doctor. If the lens is not steep enough for your eye, or if the diameter is too big, they will have a tendency to fall out. Extreme dry eye can also contribute to them falling out. Try drops first .

maybe there not too good a brand but i wear contacts too and i was advised to wear them reguarly...not every day like you do....maybe your eyes have something to do with them falling out, cos six months worth gone in two months is alot!

I sometimes have this problem if i let them get too dry. It might be a good idea to carry eye drops for contacts if you don't already. If it still persists that frequently you should let your eye dr know. There are different kinds of contacts adn there may be a better one for you.

You should go back to the doctor... The problem is not anything you did...

The problem is that the Lenses DO NOT fit properly... When you are examined for contacts... the doctor also decides which lense will fit you properly... Sometimes though, its not perfect... and the lens pops right out of your eye... You need to tell your doctor so that he/she can make an adjustment in the fitting... Do not pay for new lenses... the Doc should do this as part of the care you get after buying new lenses. And also the doc should order a new set of 6 mos of lenses without charging you.

The reason I know all this is because I have worn contacts for 15 years... I have had different brands and sizes did not fit my eyes... they would pop out and lose them all the time... had to get refitted and doc makes adjustments to the fitting.

Good Luck!

When I first got them I had the same problem. But after a couple of months you'll learn how to perserve them better.

You may have dry eyes, causing them to fall out.

Buy some contact eye drops to keep them moist and irratant free throughout the day.

You need to see your optometrist and have them evaluate the fit of your contact lenses. It sounds like they are misfitted and do not sit flush with the curve of your eye. This should be a 15 minute evaluation and be aware some optometrists will charge a nominal fee for it, around $20.

Make sure you are not standing under the hot sun or having barbecue often as your eyes will become dry and they will fall out. Remember not to swim and sleep in your contacts as they may fall out too!
Good luck! (:

your boxes could have been defective. call your doctor and schedule another followup visit, just to make sure it's not the base curve of your eye or something. if it's not, then your eye doctor should have a number to the manufacture complaint line and you should be able to call them and get new boxes sent to you... that's if you haven't already used all the contacts.
