Could I get contacts even though I've got lazy eye?!

Question: I really want contacts, but my mom's saying no because she doesn't want anything happening to the lazy eye, like getting hit in that eye etc. That would only happen in gym. I told my mom I could wear my glasses for gym, but she's saying we should see a specialist, which isn't going to be probably until spring. Question is, ignoring what my mom's saying, could I get contacts even though I've got lazy eye? I wouldn't really care about if it corrected the way my eye goes, I just want vision without the use of glasses! They're a pain in the butt with cleaning and breaking. My mom told me that I could break or lose the contacts, but I wouldn't.

you should get contacts because it does not matter! If you mother said that maybe you should follow that instructions!

Yeah you should, i have a very lazy eye, its - 15.25 and i only wear contact lenses, but you can get a surjury that will make your lazy eye a bit stronger( not laser) i got it and im 13.

The reason why you should carefully think about contacts is not due to the lazy eye, but rather your good eye. Eye glasses are better for people with a "lazy eye" because of protection for the good eye. If something were to happen to the good eye, you would be stuck with what you see with your bad eye. There are plenty of people with "lazy eye" that wear contacts, but safety is a consideration. You are correct in that the contacts would probably not help the bad eye though.
