Do contacts hurt when you first put them in?!

Question: I have been thinking about getting contacts, but I'm worried it will hurt. Or some of the horror stories I heard about them moving up into the eyelid. Is it true? Also I was wondering if you can get colored contacts for vision correction? Let me know if you have had some weird experiences with contacts. I know your suppose to use contact solution if they feel dry.....I'm just curious to know what you guys think about them.

the other answers given are great, but you should also know that colored contacts don't breathe as well as clear ones, so you can't wear them for as long - maybe 8 hours a day, and probably not every day.

They shouldn't hurt. I've worn contacts and they only hurt when there was something on them. Yes, you can get colored contacts for vision correction. Yes, my contacts have wrinkled when I've been trying to remove/insert them and it's annoying, nothing more.

Contacts will not hurt if you are properly fitted for them. The contacts now are softer and easier to handle and you should have very little problems with them. Occassionally if you rub your eyes a contact can go further up into the eyelid but you will be able to get it down and pull it out. These questions will be answered by the optician who is fitting your contacts so don't forget to make a list and ask.

They will not hurt, only be irritated because of the "forgein" object in your eye. Plus, it might hurt trying to get them in because they're a bit tricky if you're getting soft lenses.
I just got mine yesterday :)

i just got contacts last months.the first time it took me 2 hours to get one in and the doc had to get it out.but the second time i got them in and out in about an hour.they shouldn't hurt unless there is something on them like lint or if they are the wrong shape.so far no weird experiences but my mom said hers would get up in her eye lid sometims.but you could just kinda rub it down back to your eye.

They can't go past your eyelid and get back into your head, so don't worry! If one ever gets behind your eyelid, it's probably because it's too dry. You can get it back out after moisturizing your eye. This sometimes happens to me when I'm staying up late at night and I've been wearing them all day. It's never happened at any other time of the day, fortunately.
One time, I was sure I had lost one. I looked all over the car for it (it was on a long car ride home and I fell asleep with them in) and I couldn't find it. After I had given up, my eye watered, I blinked, and it returned to it's proper position. Wow! There it is, right before my eyes! ;-)
