New wearer to contact lenses - Tips?!

Question: I have a few questions. My doctor says I might have headaches the first few times I have my new contacts and it has been almost 2 weeks (still hurt at times). I clean it very well and take good care of the case and everything. (Don't worry, I DO NOT wear them when I sleep or in the shower. I have monthy acuvue 2.)

1. How long did it take for some people to get used to them & for headches to go away? Could it be that it is just adjusting to them?

2. I don't know why but sometimes my eye looks a bit red even though I just cleaned it very well, but it feels fine? (Sometimes it stings for like 1 second right when I put it in, but feels great later). Is this normal?

3. When you have one contact with a small tear on the edge, do you change both of them with brand new contacts or just the one damaged? (I find it difficult because then wouldn't your contact "expiration date" be off balanced?)

Any other tips of some of the problems that other people had and tips would be great!

Hi, I've been wearing contacts since Nov. 06. It took me about 2 or 3 weeks to get used to them because they were so different than just wearing my glasses. I didn't really have headaches though, I just had trouble putting them on (it took me like 30 min. the first couple of days to put them on).

Yea, it stings sometimes if there's something on the lense that's not completely off. I just take it off and clean it and put it back on.

And when there's a tear or cut on the lense, you just need to change the one. I mean you could change both but contacts cost a lot of money. I usually wear my 2 week disposables longer than usual but I don't recommend wearing them longer than you're supposed to.

Other tip: No need to follow the instructions for washing the contact lense for 5 seconds of solution.

Also, I wear my contacts in the shower if I have them on at the time and they aren't a problem for me.

Took me about a week or two, but make sure you do exactly as your physician ask you to do in regards to your eye care, it is very important.
