Answers:
The fact is that soft contact lens absorb water!. One consequence of which may be that they adhere quite firmly to the eye!. When this occurs, it is advisable to leave the lenses alone for 10-15 minutes until the water in them has been replaced by natural tears before trying to remove them!. Exposing your contacts to water places you at risk of discomfort due to chlorine and infection from bacteria or other microorganisms!. In general, the more water a soft contact lens contains, the more prone it is to dehydration and losing its water!. As water evaporates from the front surface of the lens while being worn, it reacts by absorbing water from your natural tear film, causing you to have symptoms of dry eyes!. For patients who have been wearing their lenses for many years, there may be another cause of the dry eye symptom!. The continual rubbing of the lens across the surface of the cornea may result in sloughing off of the microscopic hairlike structures that exist on the outermost layer of the cornea to assist in keeping the tear film stable!. Years and years of gently chaffing these fine structures can result in poor tear film stability resulting in dry eyes!. This can occur even if you are totally comfortable with you contact lenses and wear them successfully for most waking hours!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
