Is it normal for a contact lens to hurt a minute after putting it in?!

Question: Is it normal for a contact lens to hurt a minute after putting it in!?
It's my third day wearing contacts, and it hurts if i put in a lens into the bottom part of my eye because it's not on the iris yet!. If I briefly open my eye, my vision is half clear and half blurry!. I have to close my eyes and wait for a minute or two for it to find the right place!. After minutes of pain today, I decided to try putting in my other lens on the side of my eye!. Surprisingly, it only took a few seconds to find the iris!.
So yeah!.!.!.should I just start putting them in from the side!? Is it at all normal for it to hurt for a while after putting them in at the bottom!?

Also, I can feel my contacts a bit and they're sort of irritating!. Normal for a first-timer, right!?

Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've been wearing contacts for years now and when I first started wearing them I had the same problem as you!. Sometimes they might go too far down when you put them in and it can irritate the bottom part of your eye!. Also, if any particles of dust or dirt get on them they will hurt when you put them in!. One other thing that can make them hurt is if you accidentally put them in on the wrong side!. If the contact gets flipped on the wrong side it will hurt immediately after you put it in!. If none of these are the problem then putting them in on the side might be just the thing to eliminate your problem!. It could just be needing to change the angle when you put them in!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

haha i got contacts yesterday and from my experience of one day, i can tell you that when i first put them on it stung a little!. i closed my eyes a little bit so i could get them in place!. and after i could feel them a little bit for a bout 10 minutes or so, but trust me you will get used to the pain and the irritation!. :]

It's normal to be able to feel your contacts a little at first--i could!. Mine sometimes hurt for a few seconds if they're too dry when I put them in, but i've never had the same problem you're describing!. Try making sure they're totally saturated in solution before you put them in!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Good idea to put them in from the side!. And yes this is all completely normal!. You will hardly notice them after you get used to them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hey Cali!
I've been using contact lenses for years now and I can tell you that they shouldn't hurt the moment you put them on, unless there is something stuck on them, such as dust!. Maybe you could try cleaning them with the solution you have before you put them in your eyes!.
Also, what I do is I out the lenses from the bottom of my eyes and instead of closing my eyes, I soflty "push" the lense towards the iris!. this works for me, but if I were you, I would ask an optician about the pain and the blur!.
Hope this helps, good luck!
