Little flashes in eyes?!

Question: Little flashes in eyes!?
i have had these little sparkling dots in my eyes, they are white in colour when i close my eyes, and when i open them they appear transparent!. there are usually about 5 in a cluster, but sometimes there are a few more!. and also,i see black ones that do the same thing, they show on black surfaces!. i've had them a long while before but enevr though anything of it, just recently they have become more apparent and there are more of them!. i have been to the opticitions to have my eyes checked, and they said they were perfectly healthy, no retinal detatchment (which is what i tthought it was)
they look like the light you get in your eyes after you've looked at a light, or a flash from a camera, only not as bright!.
can anybody help, im very worried about this! Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I have been an ophthalmic and contact lens tech for about 18 yrs!. What you describe are definitley vitreous "floaters" which can be an early sign of retinal detachment!. If you have had your eyes dilated and the back of the retina examined by an ophthalmologist (an MD not an OD) and they said you were ok, then you probably are but you need to be vigilant in having your eyes checked and dliated every year!. Sometimes floaters can be harmless!. The sparkles and flashes could be symptomatic of "optical migraines"!. Do you have a history of migraine headaches!? There are also numerous other causes for this including again, retinal detachment and other neurological conditions---if they continue or get more frequent, your eye doctor may refer you to a neurologist for further evaluation!. You don't mention your age or other medical history, medications, etc but either way, I would go see an ophthalmologist soon!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

From your description, it seems that you have vitreous floaters!. They are generally harmless!. The best you can do is to ignore them!.
In case you suddenly develop new floaters, see an ophthalmologist to rule-out bleeding inside your eyeball!.

Since retinal detachment is ruled out (something I have been warned about my entire life by eye doctors), I was told little flashes of light are simply the eyeball drying out as we age!. But your eye doctor should have given you some explanation about the light clusters; get a second opinion form another eye doctor!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
