Light is harmful to the eyes just as sunlight is harmful for the skin!. There are a lot of problems that can happen from too much sunlight on the eye!. It contributes to cataracts, where the lens clouds up and eventually needs to be surgically replaced!. It can also lead to macular degeneration, where the macula, which is part of the retina (the back of your eye) starts to break down, and you slowly go blind!. Those things don't usually happen until old age, but even in younger people, sunlight can cause pterygiums, which is like a zit on the white part of your eye basically, or other variations of a pterygium, which need to be surgically removed!.
