My contact lens (they are monthly) expires the day after tomorrow, but I haven't worn them for a week. Can I still wear them or is it better to throw them away and start anew?

It's Depends. Do you have Bacterial on them..White Specks mean's it's time for new ones.No one want's to waste Contacts. Just make sure there's no Bacterial stuff in there. It can cause weird things in Ur eyes. Weather it looks like everything's smokey blurry or the specks are poking on Ur Pupil (which cause irritation). Cleaning them won't work..No more solution or nothing can help them when Bactria is on it. But pay close attention. :D Sorry if i cant spell right I'm Only in Middle-school.

the advice from opticians is that you can wear them for a longer than a month if you haven't worn them for a week. If you do a search you'll see specific advice on this from opticians.

If you have been wearing every day its not a good idea to wear for longer as teh lens starts to go downhill and can't transmit as much oxygen to your eye. You wouldn't feel that as uncomfortable but long term its a real danger to your eyesight. If you haven't been wearing them they dont' go downhill quite as fast although there is still a limit. For those posters who say they've been ignoring the rules I'd put that long term its a risk both to your eyesight and to whether you will be able to continiue to wear lenses. Following the rules is really impoortant if you are to wear lenses long term without risk.l

I have worn mine for a month and a half for almost every day of the week so you should be fine...you can wear them 30 days and it doesn't matter what days, just as long as they have that many days of use...If they start bothering you or making your eyes sore, however, then I would just put in a new pair the day after...I hope I helped=D

Me and my contacts

if you got them for 1 month, then you count the days you wore them

I have been wearing contacts for years

that happends to me all the time but whenever i try to put mine back in and there about to go bad they sum times hurt mi eyes so if i were u i would just get a new pair anyway

all me

Throw them away and start anew. Better to be safer.

If in doubt, you should always just get rid of them. What can happen if you leave them in your contact lens case is bacteria can grow on them since you're not replacing the solution. I'm not saying that you'll definitely get an eye infection, but it definitely puts you at a greater risk.

If you do decide to wear them, just don't extend the lifetime for too long and make sure you disinfect properly: washing your hands with soap, replacing the solution, rubbing both sides of the lenses when you clean them, etc. BTW rubbing your lenses decreases chances of having bacteria buildup and eye infections by A LOT as opposed to just sticking them into your case with solution with no rub.

soon to be eye doc!
