18 hours a day is a long time to wear ANY type of contacts.

You will have to get a trial fitting done with bifocal contacts to begin with and see if they will even work for you, they sure don't work for everyone.

Depending what type of work you do , bifocal contacts are rarely a solution for all day use for those who do a lot of close work.

I'd just add that bi-focal contacts arent' available for all perscriptions. Such as if you have astigmatism, you have to choose between bi-focal and astigmatism. What you can do is have lenses for your distance vision and then have a pair of reading glasses you can put on when you need to read. How well that works depends on how much time you are spending reading.
