Can you wear weekly contact over a week if you don't wear them everyday?!

Question: Can you wear weekly contact over a week if you don't wear them everyday?
If you only wear them for sports, so three times a week, can you extend their overdue period?

Answers:

There are daily lenses , 2 week lenses and monthly lenses...there ARE no weekly lenses. You probably have 2 week lenses.

Pretty well any lens can be extended to almost double it's normal time if only worn 3 days a week.

A 2 week lens can be worn 14 days WITHIN a 30 day period, and a monthly lens , 30 days within a 2 month period.

A 2 week lens for instance should be thrown out after 30 days tho , even if it was only worn 10 times.

Theoretically, you could. I've once worn my monthly contacts for 2+ months and never had a problem. However, if you're going to wear them every other day, then you probably shouldn't unless you want to change the soluntion and clean the lenses even on dyas that you aren't wearing them. If you leave the contacts in the case for too long, bacteria might build up in it and hurt your eyes later on.

All in all, you probably shouldn't, since you can get protein buildup in your lenses, but if you properly clean up and change the solution every night, I don't see why not.

1. Wright down the day you first started using that pair of contacts. Put it somewhere you will see it, like put a post-it on your computer.

2. Its okay to wear them only three times a week.

3. To be on the safe side I would not extend their overdue period. It could damage your eyes, even if you only wear them three times a week.

4. Contacts are not measured by uses. If they are monthly then you throw them out after a month has passed. EX: If Sara opened her contacts on January 23rd (she only wore them 4 days out of every week) then she would throw them out and start a new pair on February 23rd.
