Do I need glasses (20 characters)?!

Question: Do I need glasses (20 characters)?
Hello,

I've always thought that my eyesight was close to perfect until on Saturday. On Saturday I was at the car park in the Malls. I don't know about where you live, but here in Sydney, Australia, we have electronic displays reading '36 vacant car parks ---->' OR '32 vacant car parks <----'. I was with my friend and I asked her if the displays were blurry to her or if it was just me. She told me it was sharp and clear to her. However I could not tell the difference between a '6' or an '8' and '3' or an '8'. The displays were 5m (16 feet) away.. However, when we were about 1m (3.2 feet) away I could read it..

Now I've been realizing if I look at something far away, it gets blurry then when I blink and open my eyes it's still blurry but if I blink again it becomes clear.. (this happened 2 weeks ago) but on MSN, if someone asks me 'how are you?' I read it as 'how old are you?'.

What do you think? I don't know if it's because I'm talking about my eyes and thinking about it or if it is genuine pain, but my eyes are starting to hurt right now.

Also, if I concentrate on something for long (e.g. 1 or 2 minutes), I start getting these terrible sharp pains on the back of my head on the right hand side. (I have it right now)

10 points to best and helpful answer :)

The best person to answer your questions would be a eye doctor. I have being wearing eyeglasses and contact lenses and when i feel the way you felt i know its time to get a new prescription. Besides not being able to read far away or close there is something else that makes your eyesight bad, its called astigmatism. this eyeproblem makes things blurry far and close. of course that the higher the degree, the worse it is. Try to find a place where you can get a cheap eye exam so you can know for sure what the problem is. I don't know if in Australia they have, but here in the U.S. there are places that you can get your eyes examed for as little as 20 bucks (nyc) and other places if you buy a pair of eyeglasses they might include the eye exam as well. Go see a Doctor, eyesight is too precious to risk it.
