How long does it take to get used to glasses?!

Question: How long does it take to get used to glasses?
I am Near sighted, and I just got my glasses in today, When I look at something that is close to me, it seem's smaller. Should I only wear them for reading far away objects since I can see good close up? Also, the glasses fit, but they give me a headache, is that normal?
Ten points to the best answer, thanks in advance.

serious, It will take a long time. Ive been wearing glasses for 44 years and every time I up date mine Its like starting over again. Near sighted is when you cant see far, which can gives you the advantage of not wearing them to read. It would not do you any good to drive without your glasses, because you wont make out the traffic signs. Headaches are common hate to say until you get used to them. Night time may also take time to get use to them also. Good Luck.

Up to a point is perfectly normal, so don't worry. :)

It depends a lot of your prescription; for a first prescription or for a big increase in prescription it may take up to two weeks to get used with it, for small increases in prescription it shouldn't take more than a couple of days.

Anyway if after two weeks you're still not used with them and they give you headaches return to your optometrist, they may have prescribed you stronger glasses than you really need or just make them in the wrong prescription.

When I first got my glasses, they also gave me headaches. That went away after about a day and a half of wearing them.

It's up to you if you want to wear them only at certain times or not. My mom takes her glasses off when she is close up.

Hope this helps, and I hope your headaches stop.

it took me just a couple of days to get used to them.

put it this way, they are about 20x easier to get used to than braces. those things left my gums sore for 2 weeks and i couldn't eat anything harder than oatmeal.

should take about 2 days. If i doesn't heal after around 2 weeks you should go back to your optician and ask what has happend it could have just been rabes.
