If i need to wear glasses, and i do not wear them while using a computer screen,!

Question: If i need to wear glasses, and i do not wear them while using a computer screen, can my eyesight get worse?
I have recently broken my glasses, and they have been sent off to be repaired. I work 8 and a half hours a day continously looking at a computer screen. My eyesight is very bad and i am literally about 10cm away from the monitor at all times. I have a few 2-3 minute cigarette breaks throughout the day but apart from that i am staring at the computer the entire time at work.

I cannot supply my exact prescription as i do not know it, but i guess what i'm really asking is if anything bad can come of me working at a computer all day without my glasses for about 2 weeks?

(On the first day my back is also arched so that i am able to see the screen, which is causing bad back pains, i cannot lean back as i would not be able to see the monitor. I also wanted to know if there's anything like being allowed to take time off work or work fewer hours due to my situation)

Waiting 2 weeks for a repair seems like a long time. You might try going to one of the eyeglass places that claims 1 hour or same day turn-around and just get another pair. It would cost more but you need to think about what 2 weeks of sore back will be like, or how much money you lose by having to take 2 weeks off (probably un-paid) from work. You might check with your IT guy, maybe he can scare up a bigger monitor, he/she might know a way enlarge the size of the image on the screen. By the way, how are you seeing to drive to work?

You're experiencing the biggest problems already, straining to see without glasses. But no, eyesight changes for other reasons, like age & disease.

No, it won't hurt your eyes , but you can see all the other problems it causes to not have your glasses.

I'll never understand why someone who has to depend on glasses so much wouldn't have a back up pair for emergencies like this.

Do you think your company is responsible for the fact you don't have a spare pair ?

2 weeks to get them repaired is ridiculous also . You need to find a place that can offer much better service.
