Can I wear contacts in a swimming pool?!

Question: Can I wear contacts in a swimming pool?
Hi I have a terrible vision and I can barely see someone's face from about 10 feet away so I want to wear my contacts to a swimming pool which is mandatory for our gym class and I was wondering is it okay to wear contacts in a swimming pool? I don't open my eyes under water, well i can't it hurts lol but when i get out of the water some get into my eye for sure.. is it okay?

I've been wearing contacts for over 25 years. I wore in the pool a lot, kept my eyes closed like you. You doctor will tell you not too but I never had a problem. The chlorine may cause some irritation so I would suggest rinsing with saline after.

Experience

Just get a pair of swimming goggles and wear them over your contacts. Then you can open your eyes in the water and not risk infections or losing your contacts.

You can wear contacts in the water. One might fall out once or twice a month, but it's ok. You can also ear goggles which help a lot!!

As long as you don't open your eyes underwater and try not to get water in your eyes in general (use goggles) you'll be fine.

Yes I swim and shower with mine in. Just don't open your eyes under water, and don't rub your eyes (you shouldn't do this anyway).
