Career help: either optometry or opthalmology (eye MD)? which is better?!

Question: Career help: either optometry or opthalmology (eye MD)? which is better?
I am currently a bio major and im interning for an optometrist and I like everything about his duties and one-one patient interaction. No blood no sugery. He tests for glaucoma too. Now in summer I will intern an eye MD, but from experience would being an optometrist suffice? It seems short, less debt, and can work right away. The thing I like about eye MD is the title and the fact that I can treat "ALL EYE DISEASES" with or without surgery. I wouldnt feel limited. But I dont know if it worth the hard work, no family life afterwards. It seem extremely rewarding too. I need help. Thanks

Answers:

My dad is an optometrist and he always says how he should've been an opthalmologist cause they make so much money! Then again, I can tell you that my dad lives a VERY good lifestyle and I think he truly loves talking to and working with patients. They are two very different fields. Check out his office's website at www.higginsvisioncare.com and maybe you can even e-mail him your question. He loves to help and mentor young people!

My dad is an optometrist.
