Are people aware of the brand of the optical lenses they wear ?!

I don't think most people are even aware that there are so many brands and types of lenses. Nikon is known because of their camera fame, and Essilor and Transitions are known because they are the only companies that advertise directly to the public.

Most brands are well known within the industry but not so much to the public , so most people never even ask about it. I think they just rely on the place they go to , to give them something good.

Which is a good thing because as the professionals , we develop our own preferences for what lens will work best for specific cases.

I think people pay attention to the appearance of the frame and which designer name/initials/logo on it but not necessarily the quality. They might remember which refractive index lenses they got, (particularly if they paid extra for the thin lenses) they might know the brand of some of the special types, like if they got Transitions lenses, but, if they are just regular clear lenses, I doubt they would know, nor particularly care, what company actually made them.

I don't think most people do, but I specifically wanted some Shamir Autograph II lenses, which are very special. I got them at www.replacementlensexpress.com cause they have a pretty wide selection. I dunno, it really depends on what your specific wants and needs are?
