Have 20/20 vision, but get stressed reading (HD) computer screen?!

Question: Have 20/20 vision, but get stressed reading (HD) computer screen?
I have 20/20 vision, however, my eyes get stressed when reading a computer screen. I dont want to zoom in on the font because I don't feel comfortable. Yesterday I was studying for my exam with a buddy of mine. I told him about my problem and he told me to try on his glasses which were "1.50 vision" and basically everything was magnified, and they felt so comfortable when I was reading the screen. However, I am not sure if they will hurt my natural vision. Would my eyes become dependent to the glasses? Also he said he bought them at a local drugstore and they come in a variety of focuses from 1.25 to 3.25 vision.

you should visit the glasses place to get a check up on your eyes and tell them about your problem.

Well, you may have 20/20 vision but you might need reading glasses - the 20/20 measurement is for distance vision. Best bet would be to buy some at the drug store, and you could try 1.25 to start, see how they feel. Yes, your eyes will get accustomed to them because the eyes are muscles and while your body tries hard to work to see now, the glasses end up doing the work so you eyes can relax a bit. You trade headaches and stress for relief and being able to see. Most reading glasses are prescribed for reading books within 12 inches of your head - your computer screen is a little farther away from your eyes than that, so you would use a bit lighter prescription. Eye strain is what you are suffering from and it will only get worse without a bit of help from the reading glasses. Give it a try for awhile. When you go to look at the glasses, bring something to read and hold it about as far away from you as your computer screen would be - and see which ones work best for you.

Another thing occurred to me as well - if your computer screen is too bright or too dark, that can also cause eye strain. You might want to try adjusting that as well. Some monitors are particularly bright - and I've had problems with them and adjusted the brightness to provide relief.
