It is quite normal. Give it a bit of time to get used to your glasses - your eyes actually had a bit of an advantage reading with short sightedness before your vision was corrected so it may cause a slight amount of strain. If you have a lot of reading to do, I would just recommend taking off your glasses if it bothers you, but it shouldn't be a problem for reading a few minutes at a time.

Used to wear glasses - was fine for school and computer work but if I wanted to read a book for a few hours would still get strained after 60+ minutes.

Sometimes it takes a while to get used to new (or your first) glasses. Normally it shouldn't take longer than a week or so.

Sometimes, when you first get glasses for nearsighteness, you will have a little trouble seeing up close with the glasses on. This is because, when you are nearsighted, your eyes don't have to make as much effort to accommodate when looking at something close as someone with perfect vision. So, when you first start wearing your distance glasses, your eyes suddenly need to accommodate more for near vision, but they are not used to it and, it takes a while for your eyes to "learn" to do it while wearing you glasses.

PS: it is not necessary to wear your distance glasses when reading or other close work, if you can see it OK without them, but is it easier if you get your eyes used to the glasses so you don't have to keep taking them off/putting them on all the time.

Yeah, it happened to me too.
I wore glasses when i was younger, switched to contacts, and then switched back to glasses.
It took a few days for my eyes to adjust again, but they got used to it. :)
Give it time, you'll get used to it. :)
Hope I helped!
XOXO
