Can i wear contact lenses with astigmatism, after laser surgery?!

Question: Can i wear contact lenses with astigmatism, after laser surgery?
I have astigmatism.
I usually wear glasses, and sometimes daily contact lenses, but the prescription for daily contacts wasnt strong enough to be a perfect match because my astigmatism is pretty severe.
The optician told me i wouldnt be able to wear coloured contacts because of this.

However, now I might be getting laser-eye surgery soon (my consultation is tomorrow).
Will i be able to wear coloured nonprescription contacts afterwards?

Astigmatism is caused by the shape of the eye being distorted, or something like that, right?
(no one ever really explained it to me properly)
So despite being able to see properly without glasses/contacts, will my astigmatism still prevent me from wearing coloured contacts?

No , it won't have an effect.

Astigmatism affects the vision, and requires special lenses to correct that vision by providing the correction needed in the specific meridian required , it has nothing to do with how the contacts fit.

A regular lens will fit the same on an eye with astigmatism , it's just the vision that would be affected.

It depends on how successful the LASER eye surgery is with your eyes. If the surgery is able to treat your eyes to almost zero power (or less than 0.75DCyl) for Astigmatism, then you should be able to wear coloured contact lenses

Astigmatism is (mostly) caused by a cornea that is 'football' shaped rather than soccer ball shaped. Now the LASER can re-shape your cornea to 'burn away' the football nature' and give you a soccerball curved cornea, and hence also low to zero astigmatism.

Once this is done, you can wear normal spherical contact lenses (coloured or no colour).

If the laser isn't able to get your Astigmatism down to say -0.75 D Cyl... then you can still wear Coloured lenses.. but your vision just won't be clear. If your astig is more than -1.25, forget about coloured contact lenses.
