Can a 12 year old get lasik eye surgery?!

Question: Can a 12 year old get lasik eye surgery?
Answers:

Don't get it done. You are too young and even though lasik has been around for a while, you hold the advantage of seeing what developments and breakthroughs are still to come.

it depends on what your eye doctor says, but usually it's better to wait a little into adulthood. that way you will be guaranteed that your eyes won't keep changing after the surgery.

edit: yeah, actually, everyone else is right. you do need to be eighteen. that's a requirement.

No. I have tried. You are not allowed until you are 21. Sometimes they give an acception to some down to 18 but the only reason is that your eyes are going to grow and change until then and to get lasik now is just a waste of money and time. Just wear your glasses or contacts until then and it will be ok. I am in the same boat as you brother I am just wading it out. Only 6 more years for me.

I should recommend that that kid should wait up to 18 to undergo LASIK. At that age, the refractive error is not likely to progress

And if the doctor agrees as well, maybe hard for doctor to agree depends on how risky
