Is crossed eyes a condition?!

Question: Is crossed eyes a condition?
I know some who has crossed eyes, but it's not always crossed but it is often. Like he'll be talking to me and only one is looking at me. Someone told me that this is due to 'spacing out' and that it is not a condition. So what is it?

Some people have permanent 'crossed eyes' (strabismus).. these people need surgery to allign the eyes.

Others have a condition called HETEROPHORIA (exophoria - turned out, esophoria - turned in)... where their eyes are naturally misalligned, but their muscles are strong enough to pull them straight... until they get too tired... and let their eyes bounce back to their 'crossed, or divergent' position. Eye exercises may help these people strengthen up their their muscles so that they can maintain straight allignment for longer.
