At first, you will only be able to wear them for a couple of hours. Your optometrist will give you a schedule for your first week. After that, you can keep them in all day.

It's not recommended that you sleep in contacts, so you should take them out before you go to bed. Yes, you can still wear eye makeup when you're wearing contacts.

There aren't a whole lot of risks to wearing contacts unless you consistantly sleep in them - if you do, the nerves in your eyes will start to grow closer to the middle and they won't allow you to wear contacts anymore. But that only happens if you sleep in your contacts for very long periods at a time.

the risks are really if you don't have them fitted by an optician. coloured contacts are slightly riskier than ordinary contacts as tehy dont' transmit oxygen as well. You can't sleep in them, nor should you wear then all day. You can wear eye makeup but you have to be more careful about applying it as if you get any in your eye it hurts , you have to take the lens out and sort it and you smudge teh makeup doing it which is a pain.
