Eye surgery costs and question?!

Question: Eye surgery costs and question?
I am really near sighted, -3.5 in one eye and -3.25 in the other one. I usually wear contacts outside of home and glasses at home. Is it true that glasses help to improve your eyesight? I've been told different things from different people,
How much would be an eye surgery for someone with my eye problem?
How safe is it? I'm really afraid of something going wrong and becoming blind -_-
For how long is it gonna last up to?
thanks.

You really aren't that nearsighted...i am about -8.25 in each eye. Glasses do not help improve your eye sight, but RGP contacts, also know as hard contacts, do in a way. The hard contact works as a retainer for eye. Think of it this way: soft contacts take the shape of your eye, while hard contacts shape your eye. With your vision hard contacts might not be the best option. I wear them because they slow down my vision and give me more of a chance to get laser surgery when I get older. I don't know the costs, so I would talk to a doctor about that. And as for the safety part....things can go wrong at all times. But the technology is developing and being improved, so it might be worth it to get the surgery. And from what I know, the surgery lasts permanently, but it needs to be done in stages, all depending on how bad your vision is. Oh and also not everyone can get the surgery, because your corneas needs to be a certain thickness for them to cut it off (gross and scary I know :/). Well I hope this helped! And good luck in whatever you chose to do!

Eyeglasses and contact lenses only correct your vision while you wear them. They will not make your uncorrected vision better or worse. As far as surgery, the price really depends on what treatment you choose and where you have it performed. Most people have great results, but there are some who do not.

I suggest doing your research with various treatment options and choosing one that best meets your needs if you decide to go the surgical route. You are not going to go blind because you have a refractive error such as nearsightedness.
