What is so bad about a pink eye?!
Question: What is so bad about a pink eye?
Answers:
Yes it can blur your vision and people get freaked out because it is easily spread from one person to the other if not treated properly. Pink eye is a viral form of conjunctivitis. It can be painful and itchy. Your eye can crust over and swell. It's not fun.

Pink eye is a broad term that generally is substituted for a conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis is often caused by allergies, viruses, or bacteria and results in irritation, redness, and discharge. Usually, regardless of which type you have, they are self limiting and will go away in a number of days to a week or two.
That being said, there ARE certain types of bacteria that can invade tissue. Should the infection be caused by one of these pathogens and your cornea become involved in the infection, the bacteria CAN invade the cornea and work it's way into the eye. If the interior of the eye becomes infected, it is now called endophthalmitis (bad). This can damage the eye so badly you could lose your eye, or worse, the infection could spread to other local structures including the brain. So in the absolute worst case scenario, I suppose it could kill you. But that's a long shot. Again, the general term "pink eye" is often used for a mild conjunctivitis. If you had an infection caused by one of the more serious pathogens, you would absolutely know it and would want help!

A pink eye is when the white part of your eye turns red or pink. It's very itchy and painful. Sometimes, you will get red bumps underneath your eyelid that blur your vision.
