PLEASE HELP! Dialating eyes?!
Question: PLEASE HELP! Dialating eyes?
Answers:
You are rigth taht being dilated is nothign to do with contacts. In fact this is something which doesn't happen in the UK - seems to be a thing for the US . Here the opticians use retinal photography. Its about checking teh health of your eye and is normal practice so dont' worry they are doing it because there is a problem . Its easy to worry when you read things but your chances of having detached retinas is very low. My eyesight was wrong from at least the age of 5 by the way so what you have is not unusual.
contacts you will feel initially. How much depends on how sensitive your eyes are and how well the optician manages to pick a first lens. They aren't painful unless you are unlucky enough to get dust on them which is unlikely to happen at the opticians. You do have to be ready for the opticians finger coming towards your eye to put it in - its a bit of a shock the first time it happens.. Don't worry if you find it difficult to put in the first few times , most people have problems the first time. Like riding a bike you'll find all of a sudden it gets easy. The important thing is to relax and not worry.
contacts are absolutley fantastic - I've had them for 40 years now and they used to be not as good as they are now. They make all the difference in teh world. I still remember the thrill of seeing properly for the first time when I had mine so long ago. Good luck and try not be scared, there is really no need.
Being dilated doesn't hurt at all. It's very simple the doctor places drops in your eyes and then you wait for about 30 mins and then he takes you back in. Then he conducts a normal comprehensive eye exam where he can now get a better look behind your eyes since they are dilated. This being so he can get a accurate prescription for you. Contacts may be a little uncomfortable at first but you'll get used to it over time. Just make sure that your trained properly and not to over wear, sleep, swim, or shower with the contacts on. Hope this helps!
I am very interested in Ayurveda, which is a natural medicine technique from India. Most people in India go to Ayurvedic doctors, where they heal their health problems with natural medicine such as herbs.
I read a book called "Love Your Eyes" by M.S. Agarwal.
It says that eye dialation is completely unnecessary to diagnose any eye disease or problem, and that it causes blindness.
I refuse to be dialated and never have been dialated. Don't let them dialate you, you CAN refuse, even if they try to push you to get it done, they cannot force you. You may be young but it's YOUR body, not your parent's or your doctor's body.
DO NOT LET THEM DIALATE YOUR EYES. Please, my friend. I have delt with eye problems too and have many floaters.
DO NOT DIALATE YOUR EYES.
Another helpful book is: "Take off your glasses and see" by Jacob Liberman, O.D., Ph.D.
You can get that book at your local Book store like Barnes & noble.
The Indian book I first mentioned is only available online, because it comes from India. Google it. It's work buying.
