Watching television without lights on is bad for our eyes, how about watching mo!
Question:
Watching television without lights on is bad for our eyes, how about watching movies in the theatres?
Will this affect our vision in the long run if i watch movies in the theatres in the dark once a week?
Answers:
watching TV without lights is not bad for your eyes. this is a misconception. if your iris is working fine your eyes will not be bothered,
but if you watch TV too long, your eyes can get tired as iris constantly contract and dilate with changing light on the screen.
There is also difference between TV and movie screen. TV is active light source, movie screen is not. Change in light intensity in TV is little stronger than the movie screen because movie screen is passive (reflecting light). And you a movie is normally takes 1 to 2 hours. If you watch same amount of TV your eyes cannot be harmed. If you watch 5-6 hours continuous TV your eyes will get tired because of continuous iris contraction. If you watch 3 movies one after another same thing can happen.
Radiation from CRT tubes (TV or computer screen) are not harmfull for eyes, but could be harmfull for pregnant women.
LCD or plasma TV's have no radiation at all. But still tires your eyes if you watch too long.
