Yeah, you should have the right to request a woman. Especially if you feel awkward AND if they want your business...Shame on them to suprise you like that! The only other man to see my va-jay-jay was my OB/GYN...he's the only other man to have the "privilage" HAHAHA, just kidding!
Tell them you want a woman, and if they don't give you a woman, go elsewhere.

I'm surprised a business would actually have a man in that position if he is performing bikini/brazilian waxes. I could understand arms/legs, men's backs/chests etc.
If you're uncomfortable, I'd tell the salon that you feel uncomfortable with a man and request or woman or cancel the appointment..
Absolutely! You have all right to be completely comfortable with the person doing your waxing. It's a very personal procedure. The place I go to has you fill out an info sheet and on it it asks if you prefer someone of the same sex to perform whatever you're having done. Ask the place you go to if they have some way of making a note of your preferences, or if you can make an appointment with a specific person (and just always make it with a female). If they won't work with you, go somewhere else that will.
