Long time since i had my period?!

Question: i've been to the doctors did a test, did my own test both came out negative.

my doctor adviced me to just wait a little longer.

I have not seen my period or any sign of a period since october 17th 2007 which was longer then normal. Its meant to be 5/6 days this was 14 days but started with spotting for at least 7 days no pains i saw the doctor she said its propobably nothing.

i did not get one in november nor did i get one in december and now its january 2008 i saw my doctor the day it was due. (28th november) i waited december came but nothing. With that i cant even tell when i'm ovulating. how long am i meant to wait. no pregnacy signs either. i'm going to see my doctor again and do my own test but untill then has anyone experinced the same.

thanks in advance.

You say you're on a birthcontrol, and have been for a while, so it's more than likely that, but I still suggest what I suggested earlier and double check with another doctor, take care!

I can't say I have experienced the same, but I have a question for you... have you take birth control? By taking birth control, a period is known to stop for a long time, or even have a short period, such as spotting, which can count for a period.

You might want to see another doctor for a second opinion as well, it never hurts to be too safe.

Just to warn you, some women don't have many signs of pregnancy, some don't have any signs at all, so you may even be pregnant, it will be hard to tell until much later though. I really suggest checking with another doctor. Goodluck.

I did miss 2 periods due to stress. Another contributor could be lack of iron in your diet. How are you feeling? Unusually tired or anything? iron deficiency has the same symptoms that pregnancy does. Excessive dieting or excerising can also throw off your cycle along with weight gain.

irregularities in menstrual cycle can be varied in reasons. How old are you, are you on any type of hormonal birth control, or have you recently stopped using hormonal birthcontrol. Are you under alot of stress? Physical and nutritional deficiencies can delay or stop a period as well. I would definately keep seeing the doctor about this, hopefully everything is okay and its not anything serious.

it is really hard to think what should be the reason for that situation. reading your story makes me feel scared because i dont want that to happen to me. try checking other doctors maybe they could find out the reason for that.

If the pregnancy tests come out neg. then it could be a hormone imbalance.

I don't know. All I know for sure is that that cannot be normal.

Sometimes, particularly if you've ever had a sexually transmitted disease, the fertilized egg gets trapped in the scar tissue in your Fallopian tubes where it implants and starts to grow. It's called an ectopic, or tubal pregnancy. This type of pregnancy is life-threatening and ALWAYS requires surgery to remove it. It does NOT show on a pregnancy test.

Also, there are women who are so anxious to get pregnant, that their body tenses and their periods stop. These women sometimes conceive when they have given up trying and their body relaxes again.

I am not saying either of those are what is happening in your particular case, but it bears talking about with your doctor. There are many reasons for missing a period and if your doctor doesn't want to do anything more than talk about it, I strongly suggest you go to another doctor.

Ask your doctor about Poly Cystic Ovarian problems. This starts by irrgeular periods and can lead to other problems like weight gain etc, It is one of the most underdiagnosed conditions in women and many women have it.

a friend of mine just stopped getting her period for an unknown reason. i believe she went a lil over a year without it. she wasnt pregnant or under a lot of stress it just happened. you should continue going to your doctor just in case but it could be due to many reasons or none at all
