Breast cyst, should I have it removed?!

Question: I'm 14..I had a check up yesterday and after my doctor checked my breast by doing a breast exam (feeling it) and she said that there's a cyst in my left breast. It feels small and I had it for about a month and a week (before and after my period) the doctor said that to rest my mind, I should have it removed with the use of a thingy to suck it out. She said it's not cancerous. Should I do the operation? I'm scared, is there another way to remove it? if I leave it like this what will happen? please help!

Any cyst you have in your body would be better off removed, whether it's cancerous or not - so yes, I think you should have the operation. If your doctor said it's not harmful, then nothing will happen to you if you leave it there, but you really would be better off having it removed. I know you're scared, but it would really be for the best. Don't worry about it though - I used to have a harmless cyst on my back, and I had it for years before I chose to have it removed. I was nervous about the operation too, but it turned out it was a piece of cake.

So in short, it would be best if you got rid of it.

I would recommend discussing your concerns with your mom as well and see what she thinks and then also get a second opinion, preferably from someone that does not share the same office of the doctor you currently see to see what they recommend.
