Some thoughts on your situation:

1. "Ovulation spotting" may occur mid-cycle. Ovulation occurs when an egg "bursts" out of the ovary, and some bleeding can be involved. The blood makes its way to your vagina, where it is seen as spotting.

2. Mid-cycle spotting can occur due to an increase in estrogen around ovulation time. This estrogen increase can cause you to shed a bit of your endometrium (uterine lining).

3. Urine pregnancy tests detect HCG, the "pregnancy hormone" that the implanted egg causes the body to excrete. HCG is usually not detectable in urine until at least 10-12 days after a missed period (or about 14 days after the fertilized egg implants).

4. Some women don't excrete enough HCG in their urine for it to be detected. They must have a blood HCG test.

5. If you had unprotected sex around ovulation time, "implantation spotting" can occur if you're pregnant.

Sometimes you can spot when you're ovulating, which is about 2 weeks after your period (right around where you are now). I never used to spot with ovulation, but now I do. It's one of those things that can just spontaneously happen. Also, sometimes pregnancy can cause spotting called "implantation bleeding." The best thing would be to go see your doctor for a pregnancy test (if applicable) and a gynecological work-up just to be sure nothing's going on. Good luck!

i agree with LisaW

sounds like your spotting because your ovulating! if you have had sex and it sounds like you have wait on a missed period and get another test done!!!

well its too soon to take a teat take anothe rone after your period is due, sounds too late to be ovulation spotting and ive never had that but it does sound to me like implantation bleeding from being pregnant!!! if so it is usually brown in colour.

Are you on birth control? If so, sometimes missing a pill or taking it late can also cause spotting. But as everyone else said, ovulation and pregnancy can cause it too.
