Why am I embarrassed to buy pads/ tampons?!

Question: I'm 16, and I just find it really embarrassing. I have to go to a store with those self check out machines, and buy loooads of other stu as well or I'm too embarrassed!
How can I become comfortable with it?!

I never was comfortable with buying them....and I worked in the Grocery Store and bought or restocked during lunch break or after work. And everyone seems to come up and ask a question when I was in that isle making my choices...How uncomfortable is that ????? Then still have to check out, and get the stuff bagged up. Sometimes I would drive miles away where no one even remotely would know me to buy them.....Geez....we should be able to order them online...and get them mailed undercover.....

Just remeber, 90% of women out there have to do the same thing and purchase them. No one really cares, especially the clerk behind the counter. Having a period is beyond our control. Hopefully thinking of it that way will help you.

I have the same problem but i dont know how to get over it.
lets see what other people say.......

You'll get used to it soon. I guess it's because you're still young.

I find it embarrasing sometimes but it is just something you have to do.

Well that seems like a hard question.. hmm...
maybe you could have your mom or someone else buy them for you sometimes..

If you can't do that, just try to go to a girl cashier.. she won't care because she's probably been going through the same thing longer than you have... lol

And you can still go the self check outs without buying lots of other things.. just carry around a little basket that most stores provide... it won't be as noticable when you carry it then.. (and you can even carry around a store ad to put over top of it!)

But most importantly, you're just going to have to get used to it, it's a part of growing up that you're going to have to deal with for a looong time =/ ... Most people shouldn't care.. and if you're around some guy who's giving you problems, just know that he's immature..

Good luck with it all =)

every girl has 2 do it its completely normal no1 will judge u 4 buying it trust me its more embarrassing when u leak than buying them i used 2 b embarrassed by it now im completely fine with it cause i know im a women and it comes with it so good luck with everything

I used to feel this way too. As you get older you come to realize it is not a big deal. It's a fact of life. If it makes you feel better, choose a girl cashier instead of a boy. Also, when you need other things, but don't necessarily need pads at the time, put them in the cart anyways...these are things you'll need for many years so they won't go to waste. The more you have, the less often you'll have to shop for them. Maybe ask your Mom if she could pick them up for you sometimes while she's out, but don't make it a habit. All girls will eventually turn into woman who will go out and buy their own personal items.

You will get use it. You will not being embarrassed as all. You can buy a tampon or pad at store or else, when ever you needs.

Just remember that nobody is looking and or cares.Just take a deep breathe and say; i am woman..hear me roar..
