Tampons????!

Question: Okay I'm really sorry if this grosses anyone out but I've only had my period for a few months and tried a tampon once. When I tried it I had a really hard time getting it on and I dont think it went in all the way cuz everytime I sat down it hurt. Also when I tried to take it out it kinda hurt too. Is this just because I was having troubles putting it in?

I have found that the plastic applicator (playtex) slides in much better than the cardboard applicator (tampax).
Just make sure that when you insert it, your fingers hold the tampon on the thin end and you should feel your lips when it is in all of the way. Also, if you are using Super Absorbency, that could be an issue too. Especially if you are not in a heavy flow mode.
Not a dumb question at all...We have all been there before :)

well ya

no your just dry, what type are you putting in ? what size? I use plastic instead of cardboard it slides in. I cant use super because I will have the same effect as you, but on spotting days I use the smallest tampons try using smaller one and them being plastic.

It probably wasn't in ALL the way. Trust me, it's really hard to learn and they are tricky. Try again but get it in as far as you can, and hopefully that's more comfortable. Using a mirror the first few times helps, and stay relaxed!

yea you have to get it really far in, you wont be able to feel it if it is in far enough, keep trying though, youll get it!

I've been having periods for a few years now, and I still use applicator tampons. If it hurts going in, its going in wrong! Seriously, applicator tampons are best. I don't even get how women can use the regular ones.
Tampax do a good range, either plastic or smooth cardboard applicators, the plastic ones are probably best :)

it's not been in far enough. try using one with an applicator to make it easier.

How much blood?what type of tampon? what obsorbancy tapon? is it too much obsorbancy for your period?

It's not gross all women menstruate. Try using a smaller size and make sure you follow the directions on the box.

ok well if it hurt sitting down then yea it was in wrong. second of all are you sure you are using the right size tampon for your body size. some people need small ones and some people need big ones...it all depends. also when you put it in you need to be really relaxed. the first time i out mine in i was freaking out and it just screwed everything up. tampons take time and practice.

when,,....i...first...got...a....period....

Can you go down a size from whatever tampon you've been using? The tampons with the applicator are the easiest to use as they get to push it in a bit deeper.

Try the smallest size of tampon
Remove the paper/plastic cover wrapper thing
holding onto both ends insert it as far as it goes and then push in on the applicator or use your middle finger to push it as far as you can reach
the directions probably explain better than this!!

Keep trying and good luck! if it hurts still, take it out and wait a little while. Use sanitary towels if it still hurts and then try again next month. It should get easier as you get older.

Always remember to take any tampon out after 6 hours max!

try using tampax pearl lites they work really well and just keep trying youll get it rite hope i helped and its not wierd at all to ask that kinda thing all women have periods good luck!!
