I am 17 and haven't started my period yet, any suggestions?!

Question: I am tiny, 5 ft tall and 90 pounds. My mother was 17 when she started and my great aunt was 19, however I still don't think this is normal.

Why not make your first appointment with a gynecologist? You can discuss your concerns with her and if she thinks something is not right, she can run tests on you. This is probably normal for you since your Mom and Aunt started so late. However, if you're that worried about it, a trip to the doctor for reassurance is where I'd go. Good luck.

Until you have a body fat index of about 15 then you wont be able to have your period. That is the plain and simple of it.
So basically, get fatter! :P

well if it runs in the family don't be alarmed. be glad. periods are such a pain in the butt

If you're really worried about it, go to the doctors. But otherwise, just forget about it. I got my period when I was 13, and it was such a pain. You're lucky, by the time you get your period, you'll be mature enough to be able to handle it better than most of us. =D

From what it sounds, it is normal in your family. If you are really worried about it, talk to your mom, or see a doctor. You should be fine good luck

sometimes that just happens to people its normal. i started when i was 15 im only 5"1' and i weigh about 90 pounds and i was pretty much the same when i 15 now im 20. if dont have it by the time your 20 then i think you should go to a docter.
